Yeah from what I gather the BRSCC cup cars all have to run the same map provided by Hybrid Tune but it's more to ensure the cars are equal. They do claim to have a bit more power than the C1 Racing Club endurance series cars though, who also use standard engines.

This is what prompted me to consider remapping. I came across an off-the-shelf tune available from somewhere else too, they were charging £180-something iirc. I'm not sure I'd go that route but it shows remapping the ecu is possible.

Yes I got quoted £160 for a remap, But as its a small engine they thought they could only get 7hp. But did say more low down torque and slightly better fuel economy.

Hey 7hp in these is huge if they can find it, I'm probably barely making that with the porting work to the head and intake. Given the weight that'd be like 12-14hp in a normal sized hatchback.

Standard car 69hp 740kg has a power to weight of 93hp per tonne
76hp to 740kg takes it to 102hp per tonne.

The shop where i remapped my BMW 125i from 218 HP to 272 offers a remap for the 1.0 litre petrol engine, they say it gives 74 HP and 100 Nm. I'm tempted but what i have learned is that the clutch barely holds for the stock 68 HP, so i'm quite worried that a remap would kill the clutch very fast. A new clutch would cost me around £700. (Parts and labour)

The newest bugs develop 72bhp and I haven't heard any reports of them having clutch problems - but surely torque is also an important factor in clutch longevity?

£700, that's crazy man. To be fair I've been struggling with the cheap Exedy clutch ever since it was fitted so I got an oem LUK clutch this time - Euro Car Parts £96 after discount.

Last time I paid someone to fit the Exedy it took 2-3 hours and I think I paid no more than £150. Just took the battery tray out, popped the ball joints to release the driveshafts then split the gearbox in situ and dropped it out the bottom of the car. Clutch release fork is cable pull so there's no hydraulic system to worry about and you (or they) can lift the gearbox pretty easily.

Black Diamond do an uprated clutch for £260 if you do need it.
Kevlar and paddle clutch options too but the stage 1 organic should be good for 85hp / 120Nm.
