This Club is the biggest and most respected 'bug club in the World. This is because we try to cultivate an atmosphere of helpfulness, respect, and good humour. Others haven't, and our biggest rival recently ceased to be because the patients were allowed to take over the asylum.

We do not want that happening here, and in order to keep the Club as friendly and helpful as it has so far been we have reluctantly had to introduce a few basic rules;

1). Please respect your fellow members. Disagree and argue by all means, but keep it civil. No resorting to downright blatant insults or outright rudeness.

Similarly, if someone disagreed with you then take it graciously - we will not tolerate tantrum throwing simply because you didn't like an otherwise polite statement.

2). No overt bad language. No four letter words beginning with F, S or C. Milder cursing is these days seen as less offensive, so we will allow it, but please use it only in great moderation and in context.

3). You will comply with all instructions from Club Staff.

4). You will not argue with Club Staff over instructions they may issue.

5). In the rare event Club Staff need to edit or remove posts, or take action against a member, you will not seek to become involved or question the action taken or otherwise interfere with any such process in which you are not involved. Such actions are only taken rarely and after careful deliberation, and always with the best interests of the club in mind. After all, who is going to want to join a club where such childishness or bickering is permitted?

We do have a discipline structure, although this is rarely used. As a rough guide the process is this;

1). An informal warning issued to the offender. If they are contrite and the matter at hand is reasonably and immediately resolved then as far as we're concerned the conversation never happened. This is optional and used entirely at the discretion of the Staff Member handling the matter.

2). A formal warning, details of which remain recorded on the members profile. If there is no re occurance within a period deemed reasonable by Staff then the matter ends here.

3). Next on the list is a 72hr suspension.

4). And the culmination of this process is a lifetime ban.

When managing the process Staff will also take into consideration the status and membership of the subject - a member of 3 years otherwise impeccable standing who has paid to support the community will be liable to receive more lenient treatment than a month old unpaid member who's been casusing grief since they arrived.

Please note - this process is a guide for staff only. In order to facilitate the smooth running of the club and to best serve members interests then it may be deemed necessary to escalate to any stage of this process without warning. Remember, this forum is privately owned by one man, and is run by unpaid volunteers who do so to provide a service and 'home' to fellow enthusiasts. We do this because we live and breathe the bug culture and at all times we try to think 'big picture' in terms of the welfare of the conmunity, and sometimes this may require us acting to the detriment of someone who isn't a true team player.

Many thanks,

Don Bernard.
