Hello

I have just scored a 5 door Peugeot 107 Urban for my wife who had to chop in her Smart FourTwo because our daughter needs a manual gearbox to learn to drive in. It's banana yellow, MY 2009 and has 17,000 genuine miles on the clock. Odd thing, we bought it from the couple who bought our Smart car. Cheap as chips, too.

So anyway, on Saturday I spent 14 hours detailing the paintwork. Wash, wash, claybar (three times on the roof and bonnet) plus two coats of wax and "back to black" for all the plastics. Cleaned the engine, too. Looks like new, and the interior's good as well. Some scuffs on the boring wheel covers (going to bin them for something a bit classier) and scratches on the front bumper. But other than that, it's mint.

Already I have ordered a set of Peugeot mats to replace the nasty cheapos that were fitted, and the glove box lid. Can't believe that wasn't fitted as standard. I'm planning to add some sound proofing (it's a noisy little bugger) and then we will see about a speaker upgrade - the standard stereo is dreadful.

It's a very basic spec. No aircon, 1.0L petrol engine, all plastic interior with front doors that make a horrid clanging noise if you close them too hard. I'm not planning on doing anything to it other than a few basic improvements. I'm all ears as to suggestions!

Cheers
JonB

How much did it cost you to swap, if anything. When I sold my 107 and bought my Smart it cost me £ 2200 as I sold my 107 for £ 2800 and my Smart cost me £ 5000. Sold the 107 privately and bought the Smart from a dealer.

I see so a good bit of business for both of you. My 107 had 14700 miles when I sold it and my Smart had 15280 miles when I bought it.

Well, the Smart is typically 3k on fleabay and ours had broken aircon.

On the other hand, a 2009 107 (again on fleabay) would start at 2250 with 50k+ miles, so I think we did OK...

Yeah my 107 was a 2007/07 plate with some nice aftermarket Wolfrace alloys and new Yokohama BluEarth tyres which replaced the standard steel wheels and original continentals. My Smart was six months newer and had alloys as standard.

Although funnily enough, there is some pitting on the bonnet and roof which I thought was tree sap, but after claybarring three times it's still there. I even tried T-cutting but it didn't shift the marks (which you can feel when you run a hand over the paintwork, and see in the reflections). Oh well, it looks super as it is.
