Clutch Fault Thread

Thanks for that Roc. Also for those of us with early models there is no easy way to tell as far as l know. Just wish l’d have thought of this when l had my clutch replaced 2 years ago. Maybe it was done before maybe not who knows.
Last time it was just a noisy bearing, but I got the complete complete thing changed. €50 for a new fork is neither here nor there.
From memory the last member that fitted one painted it with hamerite and sealed it with anti rust stuff. Both or one or the other. Sorry memory not to good.

Recommend you renew the clutch at the same time as the fork, also carefully inspect the bell housing and these areas for any metal filings. And grease the shaft well.

Thanks. Have the box out. Clutch will need replacing. There was a few metal filings nothing major.
Bearing on inner cv(clutch side) had all needles apart. Dont see how that should happen. Retainers are still on the shaft. Any thoughts

Never heard of that before. Did you by any chance let the shaft hang to steeply whilst removing it??
Bit lost really.
Did the gearbox feel strange before the problem happened. Jammed up or something??

I think when maneuvering the gb off I must have had some stress on the bearing. Probably get a new bearing, 1 needle has gone awol.
Actually everything was working fine until the the lever snapped. Though I could weld the lever but broke right at the shaft.
Toyota got me on a 21 day order and Citroen/Peugeot has the part costing 3 times as much.

I had idea that part cost so much £90 wow.
If you mean the clutch bearing it comes with the complete kit.

Costs a lot more from main dealer.

I have seen a few pictures of gearboxes with the part attached, but never one that it broken. I am curious how it fits. Is the hole in “top” of the gearbox big enough to allow it to slide in from underneath into position??

Fits thru the top of the box.
I paid the equivalent of £125 from Citroen dealer, Toyota would charge £45 but I had to wait 21 days.

Bearing I was referring to is on the inner cv. Complete new clutch kit with release bearing fitted. Release Bearing clip was different from one removed.

you guys change the input shaft seal when doing clutches or just the drive shaft seals? im guessing the input/output shaft seal doesnt get touched on clutch jobs.
