Hi Ron, thanks for the info. The crp 129 seems a little out of reach for me. I'll check the others out and probably choose from them.

do some research before you buy there is a guy on another forum i use that has had good results to a point on a wireless one i will try and find it for you

from another forum and cost is £8

It depends what you want to do and whether your car is OBD2 compliant.
Mandatory (Strictly speaking EOBD for European cars) from 2001 for petrol, is your 2002 a late registered earlier model ? Shouldn't be as came into force Jan 2001 but you never know.

If general fault codes and some performance figures, ELM327 and a suitable app (Torque?) works as well as any.
But plenty of cheap and nasty clones out there and whether yours is one ??
Wireless versions seem less prevalent then Bluetooth so perhaps less nasty clones ?
I've just purchased one from here and seems to connect fine to my Scenic.
WiFi ELM327 Car OBD2 OBDII Diagnostic Scanner Scan Tool For iPhone iPad Android | eBay
And even better connects to OhNo diagnostics app which gives access to modules beyond the engine ECU .

After that, Renault Can Clip is the official best way to get full information and access to the vehicle.

I've got some readers and am glad to help in the East Midlands. How do I add my name to the list?

Be aware that the mileage stored by some of the ECUs on VAG cars (VW, Audi, SEAT , Skoda,...) is only a guesstimate by the firmware in each model - so it's not accurate and may differ substantially between different ECUs in the same car.

IMHO you're better off following the suggestion in the reply to your other post on this subject of using the MOT check website, see https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history

BTW I've owned VW group cars for more than 20 years and am a regular contributor to the VCDS (the best VW diagnostic tool) website maintained by Ross-Tech.

Got also an OBDLink MX+ (got it because it has a special plugin usefull for my new Mazda). Basically it works similar with an ELM327, but it has better refresh rate.
If you log 3-4 PIDS, you get 10Hz "real" refresh rate (significantly faster than genuine ELM327, and even more than an ELM327 clone).
