These cars dont have an active expansion tank. Its an overflow tank and works differently.
I have pressure test kit to put cooling system under pressure then look around the engine bay for any leaks or leave gauge on and check if its lost pressure.
If you cant see a leak when car is parked and it only looses coolant when driving then that means your loosing it under pressure.
Iv seen this happen a few times on cars and it turned out to be the rad cap. Spring in cap no longer held 1 bar of pressure but far less than half. When hot the cap would be venting too soon causing coolant loss.
As a cheap fix try a new high quality rad cap.
Pressure test kit costs like 15 quid. Looks like bike tyre pump with gauge on it and various adapters to fit rads and expansion tanks.
Hose failure is very rare these days with hoses lasting 25 years minimum unless damaged due to abrasions.
