Hi hope someone can help.
I changed the fuel pump on my mothers car a week or so ago but still a very strong smell of fuel in car so think I may have done something wrong. When I unscrewed the locking ring it all came off pretty fast and didn’t pay much attention as to where seal goes.
Does it go (blue) rubber seal then fuel pump then locking ring.
Or is it fuel pump then seal on top of fuel pump then locking ring ?
Can someone tell me how it fits in before I take it apart again?
Many thanks.
Lester

I've done loads of these and you've stumped me with remembering now
It should be clear when you have the locking ring off
Main thing is make sure gasket hasn't stretched ,I normally replace them with a spare one if they have, you could try very hot water
The other important thing is the ecrew to has to be very tight and to help this I always put furniture type polish or a silicone in the screw threads
I then before I bought the right tool of ebay for £10 used a piece of wood and a mallet to tighten it up
You are sure you haven't damaged the connectors of course? As one of them is a real pain to remove till you get the nack

This should help you, it may take a while to find the part you looking for but it will be there somewhere.
I hope.

Thanks for reply’s.
I think I may have ended up with extra seal.
To confirm. Is it fuel tank - gasket/seal on top of tank- fuel pump- locking ring and I also have a rubber seal inside locking ring at the end of screw thread.
It was very difficult to do up (even with the correct tool)

This is the best version, there are others, but they are older issues
