I reversed my car into a lorry yesterday whilst delivering my car to a garage for a service and it left some scuff marks. They have tried to polish them out and while it looks a bit better than it did it has left me with some swirl marks that you can only under a camera flash.

See here...

Is there anything that can be done about this?

Those are cracks in the lacquer, and maybe the paint. Can't really be fixed without at least some sanding as well as polishing, but probably repainting too.

It'll probably cost £ 100 to have it seen to by a body shop but in my opinion it's not really worth it as I would describe it as a minor scuff and you can't see the swirls under normal light.

Probably best putting that £ 100 towards some new rear shock absorbers that I apparently need.

Here’s what I’m seeing in my head, you had cameras in the bumper but they were not working.
On reversing in your garage the car hit a corner.
After repairs you decided to get the cameras repaired also.
Is that not so? Oh and you had to wait for a little clip thing for the fuel cap.

Just forget about it. Unless you have loads of cash. We are finding that many bodyshops when doing insurance work will now only replace damaged bumpers, as they have to give a warranty on ther work, and a damaged bumper may re crack. The only way to repair this is to take all the paint off and start again, but thts not going to work if the plastic moulding is itself damaged.
Knowing the smart plastic its very flexible, and its probably the difference in the flexibility of the paint and the plastic thats caused this. It will respond to full stripping and repainting. But its just not worth it. My Smart has a ding in the front bumper. Been there for 6 years.
