Drives: White 3d C1 Splash
on account of not being able to engage 1st gear under any conditions, engine running or not on my 2009 C1.
I can move off in 2nd unless faced with an uphill or loaded state, and I have got used to it.
I have in the past replaced the gearbox with secondhand units but I am reluctant to to this again unless I can source
a late model low milage unit.
Being gentle handling the gears has made no difference. Even switching to a high quality synthetic gearbox oil didn't help.
I know that these C551 toyota gearboxes are weak and known to be troublesome but as I intend to keep the car for
a few more years yet, I am looking at getting a fix sometime.
Perhaps its down to the fact that I use the car for prolonged long distance fast drives as I take the car to Eastern Europe
at least 3 times a year.
I appreciate that this so called "city car" was not designed for this type of use but I expected better things from toyota products.

So what I am asking is:- has anybody else had problems of this nature?

Had the car from new and miles covered 120,000
