I'm considering to fit an aftermarked DAB HU in my 2010 since the FM band has been shut down in Norway.
I'd prefer to use my existing roof antenna. I see that there are adaptors that are DIN-SMB only. They're cheap and should be dead easy to fit. Then there's the splitters that have DIN and +12V input and both DIN and SMB outputs. I guess that the purpose is to be able to receive both FM and DAB signals, but the FM is dead here anyway. It appears that the splitters also include some sort of amplification. My question is whether this amplifier is required to get satisfactory reception from the original roof antenna or if I can get away with the DIN-SMB adaptor only?
