Was driving last night, everything was fine. Then went to reverse, it went into gear but just didn't move when I came off the clutch, as if the brakes were on. Then heard a loud clunk then stated moving. Parked and there was oil everywhere and a hole in the gearbox.
Haven't removed the box yet. Just wondering if anyone got any ideas ??

Check your driveshafts, one of them could have popped out partially.

Failing that check your gearbox fill and drain plugs. I don't really see how they could have fallen out but I also can't think of any other holes in the gearbox.

Sorry maybe I wasn't very clear. Something has actually punched a hole straight through the bottom of the gear box, (I can see the hole) I didn't hit anything and it sounded like something punched it's way through the gearbox from the inside, (maybe a nut or part of a gear come lose and thrown into the side of the gearbox)

It's probably a better way to view the forum especially on a phone.
