Just a quick note to say that the aftermarket rear light cluster foam gaskets/seals are now once again available on a popular auction site (Moderators, can I post the link please?).

I am gaining nothing from advertising these but I asked the seller if they were still available and he subsequently listed some.

I also have no idea how well they work but the construction of my set has impressed me - they are of a fine neoprene sort of foam and are cut out pretty well with a self-adhesive backing. All that I can say at this stage is that another forum user reported sucess! See this tread viewtopic.php?f=6&t=9559

If you buy some and they don't fix your leak, then please don't blame me!

If/when I have to use them I will of course report back :). For now at least, my lights don't appear to be leaking...

What are you saying, is your leak not yet repaired?

Hi BB - I can go into detail in the other thread when I get a bit more time (and have a little more energy!) but... It seems to be fixed... For now... The last thing to fix is excessive condensation in one of the rear lights but that's because I broke one of the clips off of the bulb holder (in fact, I broke clips off of three of the b***** holders - the one on my car and both spares I already had in stock!!! Off to the dealers to hand over £21 for another on Friday! This time I will try a hair dryer to soften the plastic).

I am just a little paranoid about leaks so like to keep a stock of spares in case it comes back. I don't trust the stupid sponge gaskets one bit so will be keeping these on the shelf ready as I don't want to have to play with silicone again (ripping up the sponge when replacing a bulb doesn't appeal)!

Sorry - did you mean "Been there?"

Fixing leaks is flipping painful! Over two C1s, I have now experienced the following leaks: High level brake light, rear light clusters, front door seals (previous owner of my first C1 had a supplementary outer set fitted), the air vents behind the bumper and the Vibe's manual boot lock leaking... (this one may be a world first?)

Edit: I messed up with the boot lock "leak" fix. It is supposed to leak and there is a drain hole behind the bumper to accomodate this. Don't use silicone around the boot lock (or boot popper on models with central locking).

Thanks Reedy...

Wow! They sold out! :(

If somebody asks the seller to list more, please mention it here so that he's not bombarded with requests!

I have now fitted these and will update here if I get another leak which can be attributed to the light clusters!

Thank you for your kind words. I do try to contribute something back to the C1OC community as it has been so helpful over the last few years. Sadly, several of the technical "gurus" have moved on now and I can't hope to fill their shoes... That said, looking over my posting history I think I am at risk of becoming the citybug leak fix guru (just do as I say, not as I do on that front!!!!). :(

Whilst I love my C1, I think this will be the last one I own.
