Yeah I did which I’m pretty happy about :)

The tyre weight on the continentals prevent my hub caps from going on fully when first looking at it and the tyre's look overinflated but I’ll sort that out tomorrow morning before driving to Blackpool (247 mile trip for me then some more to Scotland after 2 nights :))

Sounds like typical Kwik Fit "workmanship" standards...

Their old advert was about right then.

"You can't get **icker than a Kwik Fit Fitter"

Sorry Kish. Couldn't resist that one. I sincerely hope you can get your wheel trims back on :!: I suggest you also check that you are still able to undo the wheel bolts with the standard wheel brace before going on your long journey, in case you have to change a wheel, but I suspect you've already left. Let us know the final damage. :?:

be aware of the cheapo tyres & make sure they have a recessed side wall for the wheel trims or they will look odd otherwise!!!

I went the alloy wheel route. Dezent 'L' 15" five spokes fitted with a 'budget' 195 45 15" Nankang NS2 tyres. The alloys are German & TUV approved which means the safety & quality is assured. The Nankangs I had my doubts about but this has proved to be unfounded. Big improvement in the handling, negligible difference in fuel consumption, yes, the ride is slightly rougher but nothing to write home about, road noise a little higher. I haven't found the grip limit in the dry & I have pushed it on occasions, in the wet the levels are lower but way better than the originals. Speedo error with that size wheel & tyre is less than 1 mph as although the wheel & tyre are 1" larger the profile is lower. Wear factor after 7000 miles is excellent. I wouldn't go back to the original wheels & tyres for any money. Total cost including fitting kit (which you need), locking wheel bolts, balancing & fitting was £400. I was invited into the workshop to watch them being fitted (theres the Health & Safety rules up the creek!) & given a cheery farewell with the words "Don't kerb 'em mate!" Don't be tempted to go for a larger wheel size & stick to the 195 45 15 tyres & you won't have ANY clearance or speedo probs.
Good luck!

did consider a set from halfrauds which were £230 but they wanted £50 for the correct locking bolts. At the time i onyl wanted 2 tyres replaced so got them done. Seem okay with grip think they are primewell on the front, seem good and am happy with them.

Once all 4 go at a similar time i will go for alloys as it's £160 for 4 tyres so will then go for nice alloys and find a way around £50 for 4 bolts.

For anyone thinking of fitting different size tyres and/or wheels this calculator may be useful http://www.etyres.co.uk/tyre-size-calculator.htm

This lets you check the difference in diameter between OE size tyres/wheels and the wheel/tyre combination you're thinking of.

Remember that by law a speedo MUST overead by between 0% and 10%, so most electronic speedos (like the C1 has) are set to overread by about 5%.

Remember reducing diameter will increase the speedo error, but increasing it will reduce the speedo error.

I can now reveal that there is no significant difference in wear rate between the Michelin Energys as fitted to the C1 and the Continental EcoContact 3s as fitted as standard to the 107. I drive both and after 10000 miles both makes of tyre are worn down to 4mm on the front and 5mm on the rear. Although I have a certain nostalgia for the Michelin, the Continental at around £10 cheaper per tyre is the most economical choice regards tyre per mile. I can't say I've noticed any difference in any other respect.

My C1 fronts are now close worn close to level with the tread wear indicators at 22000. So, in order to use up the new tyre on my C1 spare, I will shortly be replacing the most worn front tyre with one new Michelin and make the other the spare (after all its only to get me home and is not checked at MOT). After this I will gradually change over to EcoContis in pairs as and when the Michelins wear out, unless any new information comes to light.

I would be afraid to use a make of tyre not fitted as standard to the bugs, in case economy is adversely affected.
