And shouldn't he have said 'If I get bored' rather than 'If I get boring' at 1:21 here? Please have a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-BbJcO ... ZIwKU_%3A6

"If I get bored" is if the speaker gets bored themselves, but "If I get boring" is if the speaker is asking the listener(s) id they think the speaker get boring to listen to.

Say I'm wearing an uniform that I hate. Do I say "I wish I wasn't wearing this ugly uniform" or "I wish I didn't wear this ugly uniform"?

I would probably say "I wish I didn't have to wear this ugly uniform"

All three could be used depending on context/situation but Dave's is probably the most likely regular use. "I wish I didn't wear this ugly uniform" sounds the least natural and would be hardest to find a correct-sounding context for it.

"Don't be like me and get divorced" - Do I advise someone to get divorce or not to get divorced?

You're saying that you have done things that have resulted in you being divorced.

The phrase is passing comment on YOUR status and advising the listener that if they behave like you they will get divorced.

It's not directly advising them whether or not to get divorced, so your question isn't relevant to that phrase.

However, again, context could alter it.

Person 1 is just discovering that they are in an unhappy marriage. Person 2 has been in an unhappy marriage for years but remains married - and wishes they had done something about it.

In that case, if person 2 said "Don't be like me, and get divorced." there would be a tonal change in their voice clearly indicating an almost instruction-like comment that person 1 should get divorced. i.e."Don't be like me and get divorced. I wish I'd done it years ago but here I am still married to the [insert expletive here]."

Person 3 is also discovering that their marriage isn't as happy as they hoped. Person 4 was in a similar situation years earlier, got divorced (maybe after listening to person 1) but now regrets that decision and feels that they could have made a go of things somehow.

In that case, "don't be like me and get divorced" could be recommending the opposite to person 1. It may be part of a larger conversation such as "Don't be like me and get divorced. I still regret it. Try marriage guidance, anything."
