As for English, what do you guys say, if anything, if you see someone eating. For example you enter a staff room at work, and your colleague is eating something. Do you say 'Enjoy year meal' or 'Bon appetit'? Here in Poland it is considered very rude not to say anything in such a situation and I 've been told it's ok not to say say anything in English.

We don't feel obliged to say anything in such a situation.

In a work situation I wouldn't feel I had to say anything, especially to someone I didn't know; round the table at home we might say bon appetit, but not always.

And is it natural to say 'What can I get you to drink?' to someone coming round to visit us? And how about offering some food, what do you say?

We generally don't offer food to visitors unless they stay long enough to reach a meal time and they are a close friend. The exception might be a snack on display, e.g. you might offer any visitors a small chocolate from a bowl on the table.

Offering a drink is much more common, however and this would be offered to most guests likely to stay for more than a minute or two. Simply worded something like "Would you like drink?"

So 'what can I get you to drink? ' sounds too formal to be used to our visitor at home? It sounds more like said by a waiter in a restaurant?

i think this depends on where your from. Its common practice in Scotland and northern England to offer something to drink. If not it is considered quite rude actually.

Are you talking about the specific grammar or the situation

First thing that happens in our house when anyone arrives, is the kettle goes on.
