That seems quite a lot for a base rate based on what you've said, I guess the extras add up but its more than I was charged as a base rate and I'm certainly a bigger 'at risk' driver than you will be. If you want to try the non-comparison-site insurers, like Direct Line/Aviva etc., they might offer you something better. My cheapest has been with Direct Line and subsequently Aviva.

Renewal quote through the post from Aviva: £295 (which includes a discount for renewing)

Brand new quote through Aviva: £280. What the hell?

Joke's on them though, I did a quote on DirectLine and they've quoted me £240! Which includes a courtesy car as standard, too.

This is the only time I like being an old fart, 52 so not that old lol, 3 years no claims due to crashing my c5, 145 fully comp 10000 miles a year no excess with Privilege insurance, who are a cheaper subsidiary of Direct line. I had absolutely no problem when I did claim, was paid out retail replacement value for the c5, which was a heck of a lot more than I expected, and it was settled in 2 weeks, over Xmas and new year. It does include a 30% multi car discount with my 205 though, which I get on both cars as I can only drive one at a time, they offered it without asking!

Ironically ours went the other way, up by £40, I shopped around for prices, but stayed with the AA again as got bit of discount. I expected increase as think I read that insurance prices going up due changes how BIG payouts/claims made, government meddling here again costing us more and more tech on cars making repairs more costly. Bit odd really cos I thought these fancy driving/braking aids were supposed to stop crashes lol.

Strangely been with the AA for 3-4 years now as they been quite competitive, unlike many years ago I gave up ringing them in the end for a quote as they were always ludicrously expensive!
