Found these guys in the JT Directory...

http://www.jtdirectory.com/c7399/r-s-motor-repairs-st-helier

Their rates are £ 27 per hour so three hours would be £ 81 + £ 80 or so for parts and you're looking at £ 161 which is dead cheap. Anything under £ 200 including parts is dead cheap here.

Yeah probably a mobile mechanic, Byrnes Motor Repairs also quoted me £ 25 per hour for mobile services or £ 40 per hour if it had to come into workshop.

He’s simply not carrying the overheads that the Big Companies are.
Think about it, for a second, 2 bookings a day with luck. Start at 8-9am could be done 5pm.
Not all cars will be as clean as yours, they will need further work on them.
More opportunities for work if he is a good mechanic.
And does not take the piss out of customers. Like some garages do.

As part of the full service they are going to...

Check Brakes, Tyres, Suspension, Lights, Levels, Pressures and do a Diagnostic check with a report on any faults

Is there anything else I should get checked whilst they are at it? They are going to...

Change Engine Oil, Engine Oil Filter, Air Filter, Spark Plugs, Brake Fluid & Bleed Brakes and Battery in Vehicle Key (One key only).

Well I sent my chosen garage an email at 12:38pm yesterday afternoon to arrange a booking in date for my service and they haven't as yet got back to me.

What should I do now? Wait a few more days for a reply, email them again to chase it up, phone them, visit them in person or just forget about them and try someone else.

I would ring them first, an email is easily lost in the noise.

Thanks, I have sent them another email. If I don't hear anything in the next few days I will assume they are not reading them and give them a call.

Had the service done today it was a little bit more than quoted due to the fact he had priced me parts for the older version of the Fortwo, here is the invoice...

Image

They reckon I need two new rear shock absorbers and the A/C needs recharging.

Also as I was trying to get into their backstreet garage this morning I managed to pick up another battlescar...

Image

I reversed into a bloody great big lorry! Luckily I didn't cause him much damage so he isn't looking to claim.

You can see where they've tried to polish it out. Its better than it was and if I was that fussy I could get a body shop to repair it.
