I don't think there are many active Scottish members?

Only really have Allantbdm, Arragonsis, Mackeller, Allanbegg, Paolo

Rotty, BugMac, Baller, and RobMclav dot in and out but they arn't as active as they used to be.

But in saying that, i think we have had 2 more Scottish members join up this week?

I'm up in Gala like once a month, so it depends on when these event fall?

Hi, I'm Arragonis - named after Sir Alec.

I'm not Scottish but I live here, I'm doing missionary work on behalf of civilisation - we English worked on Africa and India but Scotland is taking a little longer ;)

The problem is that Scotland is kind of bundled into one group but actually Scotland as a place is about the same physical size as England but with far fewer people (5m vs 55m) and far fewer motorways and the motorways generally have a lane missing. As an Englishman in Scotland I understand why the locals are peed off with the BBC (the world revolves around London) or indeed with the English as a whole - it is a very different place.

That tapped how about we identify where we all are, and how far we would travel - and maybe we can organise something "central" for the members here via Alan as rep. I am notoriously bad for time but I will try to attend.

I'm Edinburgh based, the limits of the M8, M77 and M9 are close to me, and maybe a little distance beyond.

Just a thought - random off the top of my head - how about hiring Knockhill or arranging a group session ? It would end up being mid-week when the circuit is less busy but its an option ?

Mind you we could fit on the go-kart track ?

I'm happy to give them a call and find out and even organise it with them - but we need a level of interest beforehand so please prod every Scottish member and get them to post here, or even North English / Irish members if they fancy it.

I'm not going to start a charity for this, but if members are serious I'll give it a go. I haven't asked them yet but from previous experience you need to ponder :

- Cost - this is not going to be for free, they have marshals, first aiders etc. to pay for.

- Insurance, you are going to have to arrange something - your road insurance is not going to cover it.

- Equipment - you may need to wear a helmet etc. If you don't have one then you may have to pay to hire one.

- They may refuse you - badly fitted mods etc. Your problem on the day, no refunds.

- They do chips, not cheap, but they do chips. With sauce. And tea.

- Dates. Once it is done you're in and paid. If you miss it tough.

- Anything else - stuff I don't know about yet.

So if you are serious post here and we'll see what is what. :ugeek:

Sounds good! I'd probably pay anything between 50-100 pounds sterling to drive an empty knockhill for an hour or two
