I changed the oil and put in a bit to much. What do I do now? Leave it or drain out a bit?

The likeliness of damaging the engine with that little excess amount of oil seems small BUT, in your position, I would drain a bit out, but also that means getting another oil sump washer as I wouldn't trust it.

I've experienced bigger bills for things that seemed insignificant to my judgement.

Whatever makes you sleep better at night, do it.

I was thinking of loosening the oil filter and draining a bit out.

As the man says the sump is the lowest point on the engine. If you changed the sump washer at your service, personally l would not change it. But each to his own. Next time fill from a 1 litre jug.
But then you know that, don't you

It will be fine. The markings between the two marks is 1000ml. So 1mm over is likely 25ml (shot of vodka). It's tiny amounts over don't worry.
If you are that bothered just wipe the dipstick about 50 times and you should be back down to max! :)

I echo GavJ it’s really a nominal amount, no need to worry about it
