I hadn't even heard of these valve core tools until you guys started speaking about them. I'll have to check them out. Might be useful.

It's a good job I hadn't driven on it as it must have been down to at least 27 PSI, I measured it at 25.5 PSI but that was after a bit more had leaked out.

To be honest, being down 2 PSI is a slight drop that you might even have noticed but there wouldn't have been much difference in performance and you wouldn't have damaged anything.

By marked contrast, a friend of mine was staying with me recently and I noticed that one of his tyres looked more than a bit squishy. We checked it and it was sitting as 13 PSI, way below the recommended 32. He'd done a lot of miles (hundreds) on it in the preceding few days and had no idea when he had last tested it. It could have been low for weeks. I don't know why he hadn't noticed that.

Yeah well worth having one in your toolbox. They are only £ 1.16 inc VAT with free delivery here...

You can get some from China on eBay for 99p free delivery but it would take 2-3 weeks to arrive and it wouldn't be a brand named one like Silverline either.

EBay.de has some from China 1 for €1.64 or 10 for €3.43 or offers. Problem there is takes 6 weeks or might never come. I have a set of small long nose pliers that would do the job anyway.

Cheapest Silverline 380159 like mine on eBay.de is €3.29 with free delivery which is approx. £2.90 according to xe.com. On eBay.co.uk the cheapest is £1.75 free delivery. If you're in UK its probably best getting one from FFX which I linked to above for £ 1.16 inc VAT with free delivery.

They have a good reputation too...

Here is my review of it on Amazon...

Had my credit card statement in today. I was expecting to be 34p in debt as I had 98p in credit on my VISA and spent £ 1.32 on the valve core removal tool which I put on my VISA.

I waited until I received my credit card statement before paying it off and to my surprise they have written off the 34p as a "Small Balance Write Off" which means the valve core removal tool only cost me 98p.

Good job I waited now! 34p is pretty insignificant though.
