In my manual under weekly checks are the following with pictures

Engine oil level Number One Strangely enough.
Coolant level
Brake Fluid Level
Screen Washer Fluid
Battery Terminals
Wiper Blades
Tyre Conditions and Pressure
Then it talks about light checking

Please note that the first item is oil level.

I've followed the acronym POWER every week since I owned my first car in the early 1970's.

P = Petrol (level and leaks)
O = Oil (level and condition)
W = Water (coolant and screen wash)
E = Electrics (battery condition, security and connections)
R = Rubber (tyres condition & pressure and wiper blades)

Even though I'm a full member I haven't been online for couple of years due to personal reasons (health). I'm disappointed in myself for letting it get that low :(

Well l hope you are getting better, and cars take 2nd place in that situation.
I know this myself.
Regarding your car you got away with it and hopefully no lasting damage has occurred.
Good luck for the future

put oil in it you cheapskate.

classic symptoms, cornering fast or braking / accelerating fast the oil in the sump moves away from the oil pickup tube, that causes the oil pump to suck up nothing and you get oil starvation. your oil pressure drops and the oil/stop light comes on.

depending on how long you let this happen you will have damaged crank bearings, connecting rod damage, accelerated camshaft and timing chain wear.

either way your are a muppet.
