Nice looking car you have there, looks clean and tidy as well, styling wise it still cuts it for me as well, hopefully the mechanicals aren't typical Renault, although small Renault's were usually good iirc.

i remember them well did they have a volvo engine very nippy evan on the motorway , very easy to work on evan under the bonnet

I never noticed this thread. I used to really like Renault 5s. Never had one, but I wanted one as my first car "back in the day". I was told that they had one of the most difficult clutch changes (should it need to be done). Don't know if that's true or not.

Purely as an interesting aside, this 3 wheeled kit car that often pops up at classic car shows around Scotland is based in a Renault 5. I took this pic at the Crathes car show in 2016.

I can confirm that removing the gearbox is an absolute nightmare.

Especially since I have done it twice and it needs to be done again

Is inherently difficult or is it an access thing? i.e. is there something mechanically odd and difficult about it or is it just the way that it is squished in to the small car that causes the problems?
