Forgive my ignorance but without looking in google what is a knock sensor error? Nothing serious l hope

A knock sensor determines whether pre-ignition (pinking) is happening in the engine due to e.g. incorrect timing, too weak a mixture, too low octane fuel for the engine ECU to cope with, etc.

Thanks for that. Pinking the word took me back in time trying to set the timing on my GT250 after I blew up and completely rebuilt the engine. Had to push it 15 miles to get home.
Parts all over the kitchen. For weeks, happy days.

Sounds like fun!

It's getting error code 55 which is telling me it's not connected properly, I remember the clips braking when I took it apart so it's probably come out but it's about 2-4 hours of work to get to the sensors but the wiring I can get to now, so for now gonna connect both ECU wires to the working sensor and hope that fixes it, I've ordered a new loom and sensors so will replace them both while I'm there

Need to look at the exhaust too as it's blowing at the join which is a pain

Also got a knock from the rear suspension sounds like something is loose and I've not tightened it up properly so need to investigate that too

Fixed the knock sensor, wired both sensor inputs to the same one so it thinks it's ok for now

Sensor and wiring issues bane of modern engine, had MAP sensor problem on our Astra earlier this year, well it was either that or throttle position sensor!, , cars of yesteryear less complicated and easier to fix, but then again more rust and more unreliable, so you can't win!

Glad you got it running, surprised the error you got was so specific, ones I get seem be multiple choice, which is helpful.

And will give her a good clean, got some of that 9H ceramic stuff off eBay so will apply that and see what that's like
