Firstly that's the original 1998-2007 450 model Smart car and secondly I don't drive above 40 mph here in Jersey as that is the maximum speed limit. Therefore I don't have any under steer issues when going round bends. It handles just fine for my purposes I am not racing with it!

Most of the clear plastic roof panels get crazed with very fine marks, dont worry they all do it. But do use a decent wax on the roof to exclude airborne contaminents.

Mine doesn't have any crazing like this...

but does have some de-lamination like this...

Neither are photos of my car.

Good excuse to get it chopped in for a Smart Roadster for summer!

At first I thought it was because someone had once fitted a bike rack to the roof of the car which left these marks then while searching google for "smart car crazing" I came across a post with the second photo above.

It seems it happens due to UV exposure and age because it has a polycarbonate roof. Now that I know its a fact of life I am not so bothered by it.

Just like those pink Corsas you used to see, just accept it does it, fair play. If it was me I'd probably wrap it in something. Guess it's a perk of living in the channel Islands, more intense sun!

Recently discovered this site...

http://www.mercedes-benz-parts.co.uk

Which is great for finding prices of Mercedes and Smart parts from the main dealer. Pretty rubbish unless you have the correct part number which can often be found by searching google or checking eBay listings. I wonder if there is anything like this for the triplets.

Don't know if you know about this site: http://www.evilution.co.uk/

They seem to know just about everything that there is to know about Smart vehicles and can give some very useful advice. Loads of useful tutorials/how-tos etc. I certainly found it very useful when I had my Smart Roadster.

Yeah I found out about that evilution site as soon as I got my car if not before. Certainly helped me fit the genuine Smart tailored seat covers I recently bought. The instructions that came with them might as well have been in Japanese.

While browsing Facebook yesterday I found a private advert on a car sales group dated July 2016 for a Smart car which was basically the same as mine in every aspect except it was a more up to date 2011 model. They only wanted £ 3,000 for it with just under 13,000 miles! Sold now obviously.

If that was for sale by a dealer here it would be at least £ 5,000 and if I sold mine today I'd be looking for £ 3,500 and its a 2007 with 17,300 miles now. The only reasons I can think they were selling it so cheap is that it appeared to be an ex company car as it had a local estate agents name and number advertised on it.

Perhaps they were offered less as trade in or being an ex company car they could afford to let it go for that sort of money. Just a shame I wasn't in the market for a car at that time as it really was a bargain, might have had to take the decals off myself which is the only thing.

Ah well its not as if this sort of deal comes up every day so mine would probably still sell for approximately what I am after. Anyway not planning on selling up anytime soon anyway.
