Well because the engine and gearbox mounts are attached to the subframe rather the the inner wings means its difficult to realign the subframe when the engine is hanging from a wing lift.

Or the second way is to drop the entire engine gearbox and subframe in 1 go which means disconnecting all the coolant hoses power steering pipes accelerator cable speedo cable suspension top mounts then you can fpcusbon removing the gearbox after that

Ugh! I can see why that would be a nightmare of a job. Seems the information I got way back in the late 70's was right.

Back to the cars themselves, OK, they are a bit dated but I think they actually have kept a certain something that means they don't stand out too much versus other cars from the time. They still look decent enough to me.

There were a few people around here in the early 80s who had one of these:

Renault 5 Turbo 2. I saw quite a few of them rallying too.

The 5 is up and running again. This quarantine has finally given me the time to crack on with it.

I will post some pictures up soon

Love the bright red distributor cap, so easy to get the Leads mix up. Alternator looks massive, is it really big compared to our models? The clutch also?
