Well its been a while, I haven't done anything more to the car. Had a MOT and seems my water pump is going to need replacing, makes sense now as I had a coolant light on the dash come up a couple of weeks ago so had to fill it up. Not sure if its a job I can do or not. Can find the belt and the pump for £34 on Ebay but local garage wants £108 inc vat to do the work Oh and apparently the front side near passenger shock absorber needs replacing as the MOT says it has slight movement at the upper attachment but not sure if this is something that needs doing or not? 1st time I have been to this garage for a MOT.

Was it an advisory on the MOT?

Yes was on the advisory. They said those 2 things would not get through the next mot. Weird though as the water pump was replaced with belt just over a year ago.

Depending on your mileage both those items should be ok. One of our members has a great video that would help you to change them yourself and we are always around if you have questions.
The money you save would easily pay for tools you need to do to the job.
And then you have them forever.
Check the belt before buying a new one, it's hard for me to believe that the old one has only lasted a year.
