Apparently I’m covered for more than one visit. At least that was what I was led to believe.

I wonder how it works, the main dealer took the £ 600 off me for the 3 year cosmetic car care plan at time of purchase and have given me the name of the body shop who do the work.

Do they pass the money taken onto the body shop and take a cut themselves or simply pass it all onto the body shop giving them some business?

I'd be very surprised if the dealer didn't take a cut.

The other option is that the dealer takes all of the money and the body shop charges them preferential rates on the work they carry out.

What happens if/when the work required reaches the £600 paid?

And is the work done at a 'trade' rate per hour not the normal 'customer' (or the even higher 'insurance') rate?

If it reaches the £ 600 that’s their risk and I’d expect the work to be carried out at the trade rate per hour.

If it helps, you could try clay bar to remove the stubborn tar, worked for me in the past, I've got a bilt hamber clay bar which needs only water to work.

I’ve tried some of that special tar remover stuff and it didn’t work. I’ll claim on the special insurance I have.

Well I've used some shampoo and a bug shifter pad on the scrape on the wheel arch and its come up nicely...

I can still feel it but can't see it, one less thing for the body shop to look at.
