Well I washed and dried the door and applied some Meguiars Ultimate Compound all over where the marks were whereas before I only tried on one little area and gave up. These are the results...

I reckon a body shop should be able to buff them out.

Went over it for a second time, used plenty of compound and spent awhile rubbing it in. Achieved even better results.

I’m in two minds whether to make a claim on the scrape on the wheel arch. Can feel it and see it if I shine my iPhone torch on it but it’s very minor. Then again I did pay £ 600 to the dealer for just this sort of thing.

Might get them to have a look at the wing mirror as well. Don’t want to be a laughing stock when they can hardly see what I’m on about.

I did suggest you wait until after winter just in case. But it's your decision. Or at least until you're next service is due. You will not be a laughing stock, because you're paying there wages.

Well I went over it yesterday with the Meguiars Ultimate Compound using my Kent applicator pad and buffed it out with my Kent Microfibre buffing towel.

Had a look today and it looked a bit better, so went over it again and checked it just now under the light of my iPhone torch and it’s damn near perfect.

This Meguiars Ultimate Compound is fantastic!

I think the secret is to use plenty of compound and rub it in thoroughly then use a buffing towel to buff it out. Then if it needs it come back a second time and do it again.

Try WD40 to dissolve tar spots. Give it time to soften the tar then wipe it off. Takes some patience but very little effort. Unlike buffing out scratches - that needs both patience and effort......

When I washed my applicator pad under the tap there was a strong smell of turpentine so there’s obviously some solvent in the Meguiars Ultimate Compound.

Here's another photo showing the massive improvements I've had when properly treated with Meguiars Ultimate Compound...

This time using my DSLR camera instead of iPhone, with the flash switched off.
