I wouldnt think so tbh? It may be the same basic engine but may have been modified to accomodate the yaris?

i was not aware these had a knock sensor. that means with the combination of variable valve timing and the knock sensor they should benefit from high octane fuel.

But only if the ECU mapping allows the timing to be changed enough to be able to take advantage of the better knock properties of the higher octane fuel, just having the sensors isn't enough.

I've used Tesco Momentum a couple of times on my 1.0 and found no noticeable difference in mpg, flexibility or power (climbing some of the steep Devon hills still needed a gear change at the same point), so my conclusion is that while the better detergent properties of Momentum are a nice to have the ECU isn't programmed to be able to take advantage of the higher octane.

High Octane fuel does nothing for performance in these engines.
