The two cables I think you're looking at are the gear select cables. The clutch cable is underneath these... get someone to operate the clutch while you look at it (engine needn't be running)... then grope round the bracket and you'll feel a knurled screw... that's it ... pointless taking a photo, as you can't really see the damn thing !

You cant see it, you feel it, and turn it by hand.

It's more of a wheel, than a nut, obvious once you find it.

...and it's round the back of the bracket, facing the bulkhead.

... and you thought a mini bypass hose was bad ... (joke only applicable to those of us old enough)

Well, I can't believe I found this yesterday. My clutch had been progressively getting worse. About 6 months or so ago, when I had a service, I suggested it was slipping and my (independent) garage said no. Over the last few days it started to degrade sharply to the point that I could hardly get up a hill and it was juddering every time I changed gear.

I rang the garage again and was told "there is no adjustment possible on a C1 clutch, you'll have to have a new clutch. We'll get you a price". Then I found this thread and within 10 minutes had sorted the problem myself!

They'll be getting a piece of my mind when they ring me back with a price.

So glad I found you guys. :D

Has anyone managed to adjust the clutch cable nut in a car with Air Conditioning? I followed all the helpful instructions in this post but the two a/c pipes run just above the gear selector cables and, whilst I can just get finger and thumb on the nut, there is no room to turn it ( even if it was easy to move, which it isn't!).

Any further advice?

David
