Both open and close buttons have fallen off with constant use. I use a piece of wood to push the switches but is there a smart way of substituting something permanent.

I've never tried one personally, but these look like they might work, even if you just use one side...

Yes agreed they do work, just had to return one to Amazon because I forgot about the screw.
And ordered the wrong item. So my inners did not fit. Don't forget the CHIP or your car will not start.
Some people were reporting that the back didn't fit right, it's only the buttons that wear.

I can confirm that these Heart Horse units from Amazon work fine - just used them to fix No. 1 Son's remote key. You can just leave the blade in the back of the key (with the Citroen chevrons on it) and swap the front button side. The electronics inside just unclip from the old button side and into the new - a two minute job and he's up and running again for under £7 (for two) :-)

Yes used that one on mine, Dont forget to take out the big black chip carefully in the old case and move to the new one.
Dont through away the old case untill you have fully testes you can drive the car a couple of times.
