(From Toyota Owners Club forum)

The radio in the C1, 107, Aygo is fitted wit ISO-connectors. There's
2 large ones with 8 pins each; one for power, one for speakers.
They can't be swapped because of the locking-tab being positioned differently:

A-Block Power:

Image

A1 = phone mute/tach pulse
A2 = remote/ground
A3 = remote
A4 = 12V permanent IN
A5 = 12V switched OUT (i.e. for antenna or amp)
A6 = 12V IN when lights on (for screen-light or dimmer)
A7 = 12V switched IN, powered with key in ACC or IGN
A8 = ground

B-Block Speakers:

Image

B1 = + right rear
B2 = - right rear
B3 = + right front
B4 = - right front
B5 = + left front
B6 = - left front
B7 = + left rear
B8 = - left rear

C-Block Auxilary

Image

C1 = line-out left rear +
C2 = line-out common ground
C3 = line-out right rear +
C4 = line-out left front +
C5 = antenna/remote +12V OUT
C6 = line out right front +
C7 = n/a
C8 = n/a
C9 = n/a
C10 = n/a
C11 = phone in +
C12 = phone in ground
C13 = cd id (data channel)
C14 = n/a (possibly control channel)
C15 = ground
C16 = +12V OUT permanent (feed for Changer)
C17 = +12V switched
C18 = CD-changer line-in ground
C19 = CD-changer line-in left
C20 = CD-changer line-in right

Note that even though ISO is supposed to be a world
wide standard, some manufactors choos to differ from them
(like VW/Audi/Skoda/Seat having the A4 and A7 signals swapped),
which I believe to be the problem for you too...

If you ARE going to swap leads, I suggest doing it on the harness for the radio,
not the one from the C1, 107, Aygo as the former is usually easier to modify and/or replace.

I'm not quite sure from what you say if the C1 will or won't need a wiring adapter to fit an aftermarket head unit.

Has anyone fitted a new head unit could say exactly what's needed?

As Roc said you need to swap the 2 wires over- otherwise your new radio will NOT keep its Memory.
I bought an ISO extenison cable and changed the wires on that.
Original Loom still OK, Loom on head unit OK so I could change it to a different car if I wanted to.
You will alsoprobably need an adaptor for the Radio Antenna.
And Finally a Facia Adaptor.- Try Ebay cheaper than Pug, Citreon or Toyota

Connector C is not implemented on the standard C1 radio.

Yup, there is an adaptor to plugs into the existing connectors and allows easy fitting of aftermarket speakers. PM Rikspeed, as Halfords sell them and he works there so could tell you more. That said, snipping off the connector and soldring on the new lead is permanent and guaranteed not to wiggle loose or go crackly with age.
